Library needs to restrict video lending to children

Our local video stores and theater people do try to restrict children under 18 from renting or viewing “restricted” rated films.

Now I find out that our new $3 million public library allows children of any age to check out their “R” rated videos free. When I recently question our library director on this absurd policy, I was told: “Why not - after all, this is a free country!” It is high time that we stupid taxpayers refuse to fund such evil policies!

Empty Rosauers would be good place for new library

Why is the City Council committed to building a $4 million library in the most congested area of the community where there is no adequate parking? Both high schools, and the majority of the population are to the north.

Why didn’t the City Council and/or the Library Board consider the now empty Rosauers supermarket? It has plenty of parking. It’s hard wired for computers. It’s certainly big enough. It has adequate restrooms, the restaurant area would be perfect for a children’s/young adult library. The building is in total compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Doesn’t anybody in the government in this city think? Chris Eubanks Coeur d’Alene

Unsigned letter cowardly contact

To A Neighbor: I received your letter Aug. 31, and was ashamed to say you would not sign your name. I have asked my neighbors if our dog was a nuisance, and they have said no. There are many dogs that bark, plus owners who leave their dogs out to go to the bathroom on the driveway and lawns.

If you would have had the decency to sign your name I would have been more than willing to contact you and discuss the matter instead of a threatening letter. I do not take the cowardly way.

I also want to tell you for one week I had been at the hospital with my husband who passed away the same day I received your unsigned letter. Who needs neighbors such as you? Anita Geer Hayden
