New faces:

Angel D. Rains has joined the Spokane office of Lukins & Annis. Her practice will focus on general litigation. Rains earned a bachelor’s degree in history and English from Carson-Newman University in 1994 and a law degree from Gonzaga University in 1998. For the past two years, she has served as federal judicial law clerk to U.S. District Court Judge Edward F. Shea in Richland.

Kristopher I. Tefft has become an associate with the law firm of Paine, Hamblen, Coffin, Brooke & Miller LLP and will work in the Spokane and Kennewick offices. Tefft previously was a law clerk for Justice Richard Sanders of the Washington Supreme Court. He received a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and history from Seattle University and a law degree from Notre Dame Law School. His practice will emphasize commercial law, complex civil litigation and appeals.

The law firm of Witherspoon, Kelley, Davenport & Toole has added the following attorneys to its staff:

Stanley M. Schwartz earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Denver and his law degree from Gonzaga University School of Law. Schwartz, who was previously an assistant city attorney for the city of Spokane, will focus his practice on land use, environmental law and real estate.

Keller W. Allen received an undergraduate degree from Eastern Washington University and his law degree from Gonzaga University School of Law. A member of both the Washington and Idaho state bars, Allen is vice chair of Witherspoon, Kelley’s Labor and Employment Group. His practice focuses on all areas of labor and employment law.

Kimberly A. Kamel earned an undergraduate degree from the University of California Irvine in 1994 and a law degree from Gonzaga University School of Law this year. She was a member of the Law Review and is a member of Washington Women Lawyers. Her practice will focus on the areas of labor and employment and health care litigation.

Troy Turley has been appointed an investment representative of Raymond James Financial Services Inc., located at Idaho Independent Bank’s Coeur d’Alene branch. Turley has been in the financial services industry since 1981 and is licensed for sales in both securities and life insurance products. He attended North Idaho College and Boise State University. He has attained various industry designations, including FIC (Financial and Insurance Council) and NALU (National Association of Life Underwriters) and is working on two others.

Terry Phillips has joined Spokane County Title Marketing Team. She has been in the title business for 27 years.

Moving up:

Wells Fargo Securities has promoted Jan Holmes to financial consultant. She will provide investment and brokerage services to Wells Fargo clients throughout North Idaho. Holmes has worked for Wells Fargo since 1993, when she was hired as a financial services banker. She was later appointed personal banking manager. Holmes earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Utah and is a graduate of Leadership Coeur d’Alene.

Kudos:

Jose Keller of Windermere/Coeur d’Alene Realty Inc. has been chosen as the 2000 Realtor of the Year by the Coeur d’Alene Association of Realtors. Keller began her real estate career in 1986 and has been in the Top Producers Club for 13 of those years. She received the Accredited Buyers Representative designation in 1998 and is a member of the Idaho Association of Realtors Honor Society. Keller was president of the Coeur d’Alene Association of Realtors in 1999.

Allen Crist, manager of the Rite Aid pharmacy on East Sprague, has been honored by Rite Aid for “his positive attitude and commitment to outstanding customer service.” Crist, who is a graduate of Washington State University, joined Rite Aid in 1994 as a graduate student intern and was hired as a pharmacist in 1996. In 1998, he was promoted to pharmacy manager.

The Longaberger Co. has recognized Susan Calligan as a 2000 Sales Achiever and Bonnie Savage as a 2000 National Top Sponsoring Award Winner. Calligan, of Kooskia, Idaho, was honored for generating annual sales of more than $20,000, while Savage, of Spokane, was recognized for annual sponsorship of three to five new qualified sales associates.

Kent Lang of Potlatch Corp.’s Consumer Products Division in Lewiston has been recognized by the Voluntary Protection Programs Participants’ Association for outstanding safety and health achievement. He was among 11 people recognized for workplace safety and health excellence at the association’s 16th Annual National Conference. The Innovation Award recognizes the innovative approaches developed by VPP participants to resolve worker safety and health problems and their impacts of their innovation on other companies. Lang developed the Safety Concerns Log Software Program, an intranet database system that allows employees anywhere in a plant to submit safety concerns at anytime from any computer in the plant and receive timely feedback.
