Two Arrested In Stolen Pickup
Two men were arrested Tuesday afternoon after a truck theft victim tracked them down in the stolen pickup and held them for deputies at gunpoint.
Spokane County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Michael P. Keener, 30, and Rick E. Sherman, 31, for first-degree possession of stolen property, spokesman Cpl.
Dave Reagan said.
The incident began on Saturday when the victim parked his pickup at a business in Spokane and left town in a company vehicle. When he returned on Monday, he discovered the truck stolen and reported it to Spokane Police.
About 4:30 p.m. Monday, the victim’s girlfriend believed she saw the stolen truck drive by her residence in the West Plains area. She wasn’t able to see the license to confirm it was the truck, but she followed it anyway to an area near the 14600 block of North Lincoln Road, Reagan said.
She went home to wait for the victim, but saw the truck drive by a second time and followed it to the Off Road Vehicle park at Inland and Seven Mile Roads. She again went home to wait for the victim.
When he arrived, they went back to the ORV park and found the pickup stuck in a ditch with the two suspects inside. The victim ordered the two out at gunpoint and sent his girlfriend to get authorities.
Keener and Sherman were on the ground when deputies arrived around 7:30 p.m., Reagan said.
Deputies searched the truck found mail, checks and pieces of identification belonging to several other people. An investigation into the source of those items is continuing.
