Clinton Sees No Threat
President Clinton assured Americans Friday he sees no threat of a U.S. recession anytime soon because of soaring oil prices.
Clinton pledged to “do everything that I can to minimize … any adverse impact on the American people.”
He said it was “quite important” that Congress reauthorize the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. The Senate is expected to vote next week. Consumer groups are urging the administration to tap the nearly 600 million barrel reserve to force down prices.
