Missing Man’S Van Turns Up At Airport
A van being driven by a man who disappeared one week ago was found at the Spokane International Airport on Thursday night.
Sheriff’s detectives impounded Keith L. Fetterhoff’s vehicle and are looking for signs of where he might have gone. The van is expected to be searched Monday, the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office said.
Detectives believe foul play may be a factor in the disappearance, Cpl. Dave Reagan said.
Fetterhoff, 43, was seen about 10 a.m. last Saturday when he was sent to a carpet cleaning job in the Spokane Valley.
He never showed up, and records show his van arrived in an airport parking lot about 12:30 p.m. Saturday, the Sheriff’s Office said. Keys were left in the van, and the driver’s door was unlocked.
A sheriff’s detective tried to trace Fetterhoff as a passenger on departing flights, but found that airlines purge their local passenger logs after three days. Airline corporate headquarters are being contacted for more information.
Fetterhoff was well-liked by his employer, and his supervisor said it would not be like him to leave without telling anybody. The Sheriff’s Office said Fetterhoff does not have family in the Spokane area. Anyone with information on Fetterhoff’s whereabouts is asked to call Crime Check at 456-2233.
