New faces:

Recent staff additions to the Spokane office of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP include:

Daniel Loutzenhiser joined the firm as a tax associate. He was previously with KPMG LLP in Denver.

Jeffrey B. Johnson was hired as a business assurance associate. He is a graduate of Washington State University.

Michele M. Manzer was named office manager after 13 years in the firm’s Boise office.

Dr. Will Fagan has joined Dr. Calvin Pabst at Kootenai Vision Center in Coeur d’Alene. Fagan graduated in May from Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove, Ore. He is a member of the American Optometric Association.

James “Jim” Grady has been appointed executive director of Shalom Ministries, an outreach ministry serving downtown Spokane’s disadvantaged, including the mentally ill, substance abusers and the homeless. Grady replaces Rev. Rich Lang, who took a new job in the Seattle area. Grady, who has a diverse background working in social service programs, moved to Spokane from Cincinnati, Ohio, about two years ago.

The Spokane office of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP has promoted the following employees:

Lesley Ackerman was promoted to tax manager. She previously was a tax senior associate.

Stephanie A. Banks was named business assurance manager. She was previously a business assurance senior associate.

Karen Barlow was promoted to learning and education implementation manager from learning and education senior associate.

David P. Eastman and Linda R. Thrash were named tax senior associates. They were formerly tax associates.

Wendy J. Treffry and Amy J. Wendelburg were promoted to business assurance senior associates from business assurance associates.

Starting up:

A local professional association has been formed for marketing and business development specialists for architects, engineers and construction contractors in the greater Spokane area. The Marketing Associates of Spokane aims to promote awareness of the profession and its value to the community and to take advantage of professional training and continuing education opportunities, as well as the benefits of networking and personal growth. MAS president is Jennifer Rappe (328-2999); vice president is Marty Orchard (838-8681). MAS has scheduled a meeting on Thursday. (See Events category below for details).

Elected:

Richard B. Kayne, Medical Lake Municipal Court judge, has been elected to the board of governors of the 3,000-member American Judges Association. He will be installed as governor of District XIII, representing Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Alaska and Western Canada. Kayne, who has been the Municipal Court judge in Medical Lake since 1995, also serves as judge pro tem in Spokane courts. He is a 1977 graduate of Gonzaga Law School and a past president of the Spokane County Bar Association.
