This is no presidential race.

Yes, there are six weeks left in the season, but I may have an insurmountable lead. I’d like to win going away.

For a second straight week, the scribe picked 10 of 12 games right, pushing the season total to 26 of 34 and raising the picking percentage (.764). The 80-percent goal is within reach.

My guest, Derek Dickinson, was 8 of 12. The guests are 20 of 34 overall (.588).

On first glance at the adjacent mug, you may think this week’s guest is Wilson, Tim Allen’s mysterious neighbor on “Home Improvement.” Perhaps Wilson and Bonners Ferry athletic director Pete Glindeman were separated at birth.

Glindeman was a head football coach for 10 years with stops at Nathan Hale in the Seattle area, Granger, Wash., Coulee City, Wash., and Clearwater Valley in central Idaho.

His claim to fame was as an assistant coach at Shadle Park for a year, when Mark Rypien was a freshman.

Glindeman, 50, would like to take one more stab as a head football coach.

Cheney at Sandpoint: This game could tell Cheney how it stacks up against Clarkston, which is favored to capture the lone state playoff berth west of the Border.

Sandpoint, which continued to struggle offensively in a 26-7 win over Clarkston last week, will need another intensified defensive effort against a young but talented Cheney team. The Bulldogs will move closer to running on all four paws. Sandpoint 23, Cheney 13.

Post Falls at Lakeland: At the start of the season. few would have suspected that this would be a competitive game.

That number would have dropped to a handful two weeks ago following Clarkston’s 55-17 win over the Trojans. But Post Falls’ hopes of beating its Rathdrum Prairie rival were given a lift last week when the Trojans posted their first win.

Lakeland may not be at the level of its past two teams, but it’s not far off. Post Falls will not back down in what should be a physical game. But the Hawks have too many weapons. Lakeland 28, Post Falls 13.

Mullan at Falls Christian: Remember the golden days of Mullan football, under former coach John Drager?

If early results are an indication, the recent victory drought at Mullan could be over. The Tigers have more weapons than two-time North Star League champ FCA. Mullan 46, FCA 34.
