Technology Bond Still Undecided
The fate of East Valley School District’s $6.27 million technology bond won’t be clear until at least Friday.
In votes counted on Tuesday, the bond measure received 59.7 percent support. It needs 60 percent to pass.
“We’re cautiously optimistic,” said East Valley spokeswoman Judi Christianson.
The bond measure would allow the district to significantly boost the number of computers in East Valley schools.
“Unfortunately the three TV stations rounded up to 60 percent,” Christianson said Wednesday morning. “So, many of our staff and patrons thought it had passed. They were quite shocked when they came in and discovered it was at 59.7 percent.”
The elections office will count additional absentee ballots Friday, then do another count Wednesday, said Sherry Bays, assistant elections supervisor. The elections will be certified Sept. 29.
