Gop Making Plans For Bush Visit Monday
Republican presidential candidate George W. Bush is tentatively scheduled to stop in Spokane on Monday evening for a campaign event.
Although the Bush campaign said it does not discuss events more than 48 hours before they occur, GOP officials in Spokane confirmed they are making plans for at least one event.
Tentative plans call for an airport rally in the early evening, possibly at 5 p.m., local party officials said. Another event may be arranged somewhere else in Spokane, if it can be coordinated with the Bush campaign and the Secret Service, which provides protection for presidential candidates.
U.S. Sen. Slade Gorton first mentioned the prospect of a Bush visit on Tuesday night, while discussing the results of the state’s primary. Gorton said he had been told the Texas governor would campaign somewhere in Eastern Washington next week, but had no details of the visit.
