Whitman County Still Counting Votes

The Whitman County auditor’s office counted more ballots from Tuesday’s primary Friday, but it still may be a week before the results are finalized.

The race for District 1 county commissioner hangs in the balance, with Greg Partch holding 51 percent of the vote and Hollis Jamison 48 percent. At this point, Partch has 77 more votes.

In the District 2 commissioner race, Gerald Finch of Pullman beat two opponents by collecting nearly 44 percent of the votes. Since, all commissioner candidates are Republican, the primary winners will have no opponents on the ballot in November.

The county will not release the final election results until Sept. 29.
