Cecilia (Stroyan) Geneck Chewelah, Wash.
Visitation for Cecilia Elizabeth (Stroyan) Geneck, 86, will be from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. today at Holy Cross Mausoleum.
Mrs. Geneck, who was born in Valley, Wash., died Monday.
She graduated from Jenkins High School in Chewelah.
During the 1950s she and her husband owned and operated Woody Woodpeckers Drive-In on North Division, which is now Dewey, Cheatam and Howe. She had also worked for Scollards Dry Cleaning in Spokane.
Mrs. Geneck and her husband later moved to Seattle, where she ran a dry cleaning facility.
She moved back to Chewelah three years ago, and recently won a blue ribbon for her work in arts and crafts.
Her husband of 57 years, Harry, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a brother, Jake Stroyan of Chewelah; and two sisters, Helen Stroyan of Chewelah and Christine Bogner of Hayden Lake, Idaho.
Sandra Gunnoe Pablo, Mont.
Memorial service for Sandra Itell Gunnoe, 55, was held Sept. 5 at Free Methodist Church in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Shreders Mortuary in Ronan, Mont., was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Gunnoe, who was born in Los Angeles, died Aug. 29.
She moved to Spokane when she was a year old and graduated from Shadle Park High School.
Mrs. Gunnoe was a home healthcare provider and had moved to Pablo, Mont., two months ago.
Survivors include her companion, Butch Brien; two sons, Dan Briggs of Sagle, Idaho, and Mike Mead of Port Orchard, Wash.; three daughters, Tammy Schneider of Bonners Ferry, Michelle Guy of Port Orchard and Dawn Speer of Glendale, Ariz.; her mother, Alta Bailor of Calgary, Alberta; a sister, Toni Kieke of Calgary; a brother, David Bailor of Cash Creek, British Columbia; and 16 grandchildren.
Edith Balcom Spokane
Service for Edith Angeline (Wilson) Balcom, 85, will be at 1 p.m. today at Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport, Wash. Private burial will be at Pines Cemetery in Spokane.
Mrs. Balcom, who was born in Mount Olie, British Columbia, died Wednesday.
She lived with her family in Montana and Daisy, Wash., before they settled in Marcus, Wash. She graduated from Kettle Falls (Wash.) High School in 1933.
She married Kenneth Balcom in 1936, and they moved to Spokane.
In 1953 they moved to Sacheen Lake, Wash., where they owned and operated a farm and a sawmill.
Mrs. Balcom moved to Ridgefield, Wash., in recent years to be close to her daughter. She moved back to Spokane in November.
Her husband died in 1992.
Survivors include four sons, Charles and Tom Balcom, both of Newport, John Balcom of Olympia and Barney Balcom of Maple Valley, Wash.; three daughters, Gayle Cook of Ocean Park, Wash., Janet Jannsen of Cornelius, Ore., and Susan Hughes of Oldtown, Idaho; two brothers, Elliott Wilson of Spokane and Harold Wilson of Colville, Wash.; a sister, Ellen Sassara of Vashon, Wash.; 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Gail Turner Harrington, Wash.
Memorial service for Gail E. Turner, 59, will be at 1 p.m. today at the Harrington Community Church. Private burial was at Hillcrest Cemetery in Harrington. Strate Funeral Home in Davenport, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Turner, who was born in San Francisco, died Wednesday.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Paul; a son, Scot Turner of Portland; two daughters, Wendy Cronrath of Harrington and Marcy Tompkins of Anchorage, Alaska; and 10 grandchildren.
