Itron Introduces Utility Technologies

From Staff

Spokane’s Itron Inc. on Tuesday launched two new technologies designed to help energy and water providers manage businesses more effectively and profitably, and to better serve their customers.

The product launches were announced at the Automatic Meter Reading Association Annual Symposium in Tampa, Fla.

Said Randi Neilson, vice president of marketing for Itron: “Our customers have shown great interest and enthusiasm in the two new products we are showcasing, and we’re very excited to bring them to the marketplace.”

Itron’s Commercial & Industrial (C&I) Network combines public telephone and Itron wireless radio communications to link metered information with a host computer that stores company data. The result is having quick access to data to be used for billing, load forecasting, marketing, load research and system engineering applications, said Neilson.

Also at AMRA, Itron launched its new G5 handheld computer, a faster and smaller version of its mainstay metering device.

The G5 features a new power management system that allows the operator to read more meters for a longer period without having to recharge the battery.

Itron, traded on the Nasdaq Exchange, gained $1.12 Tuesday to close at $6.50 per share.
