Scouting Report

Purdue: High-scoring Boilermakers earned first trip to Rose Bowl in 34 years behind golden arm of third-team All-American QB Drew Brees. Senior finished third in Heisman voting. His favorite targets are speedy WR Vinny Sutherland (12 TDs) and TE Tim Stratton. Offensive line must provide protection against tough Huskies front. Capable RB Montrell Lowe came on late.

Washington: Huskies like to grind it out and win in fourth quarter. They’ll try to control the ball with option game directed by senior QB Marques Tuiasosopo. He’s a winner. Huge TE Jerramy Stevens is his best target. Offense is dangerously thin at tailback because of injuries. Purdue defense is better than most realize. UW secondary faces a stern test.
