White Sox 12, Royals 4: At Kansas City, Mo., Jose Contreras won his debut for Chicago, and Paul Konerko hit a grand slam to tie for the A.L. home run lead (28) in Chicago’s rout of Kansas City.

Athletics 13, Yankees 4: At New York, Scott Hatteberg homered twice and drove in five runs, while Mark Mulder hung on for his major league-leading 15th win, leading streaking Oakland over New York.

Red Sox 5, Devil Rays 2: At St. Petersburg, Fla., Curt Schilling pitched a six-hitter for his third complete game of the season and Jason Varitek hit a two-run homer to lead Boston past Tampa Bay. Schilling (13-5) struck out seven in his 82nd complete game.

Rangers 5, Tigers 4: At Detroit, Mark Teixeira and Kevin Mench homered, and Eric Young hit a tiebreaking RBI single in the seventh inning to lead Texas past Detroit.

Twins 10, Angels 0: At Minneapolis, Carlos Silva pitched his first career complete game and shutout in Minnesota’s win over Anaheim. The Twins hit four home runs and turned a season-high five double plays.

Blue Jays 7, Indians 6: At Toronto, down 5-3 in the eighth, Toronto sent 10 to the plate and scored four times to defeat Cleveland.
