Such scams come in the form of an e-mail that purports to be from your bank, credit-card company, PayPal, or some other legitimate Web site that handles money. The e-mail tells you to click on a link to validate your PIN number or confirm your identity, then asks you for your account information or Social Security number. The e-mail, however, is bogus, and your financial information falls into the hands of criminals.
