Athletics 5, Orioles 4: At Baltimore, Erubiel Durazo hit three homers and drove in all five Oakland runs, and Mark Mulder became the first 16-game winner in the major leagues by pitching the Athletics to a victory over Baltimore.
Twins 7, Yankees 2: At Minneapolis, Johan Santana knocked down Derek Jeter and silenced New York’s powerful lineup, pitching Minnesota past the Yankees. Santana (13-6) took a shutout into the eighth inning and won his fifth consecutive start.
Red Sox 6, Blue Jays 4: Tim Wakefield pitched eight strong innings and Boston moved a season-high 15 games batter than .500 by beating visiting Toronto.
Angels 6, Devil Rays 4: At St. Petersburg, Fla., Bartolo Colon pitched into the ninth for his seventh win in eight starts, Vladimir Guerrero homered and drove in two runs, and Anaheim held on to beat Tampa Bay.
White Sox 9, Tigers 2: At Chicago, Aaron Rowand homered twice – including his first career grand slam – and Jose Contreras won his third consecutive decision as Chicago defeated Detroit. Contreras (11-5) allowed two runs and six hits in 6 2/3 innings.
Rangers 5, Indians 2: At Arlington, Texas, Hank Blalock homered twice, Kenny Rogers earned his 15th win and the Rangers extended their winning streak to six games by defeating Cleveland.
