School registrations approaching

It’s the time of year when back-to-school commercials invade your television and summer pastimes that were fun in June become booorrr-ing.

It’s also time to register your children for school if you’re new to the area, have a kindergartner or hope to transfer schools within your district.

Kindergartners, as well as first-grade students who didn’t attend kindergarten last year, must bring their birth certificate and immunization records to their schools before the first bells ring.

Students of all ages who have medical concerns also need to complete paperwork before school starts. The authorization forms allowing school employees to give students medicine must be signed by the students’ doctor, so parents need to plan for the extra time it takes to get that done, school district employees said.

Students new to the area and students hoping to transfer to another school in the district should go directly to their home school once registration opens. They can find the necessary paperwork there.

Not even sure which is your home school? Call the districts or visit their Web sites for more information. Some Web sites even have school-supply lists and bus routes.
