OKANOGAN, Wash. – Three young men have pleaded innocent to charges stemming from the shooting death of a man who reportedly stopped to help them in a remote area east of Tonasket.

Appearing Thursday in Okanogan County Superior Court, Seymour X. Reuben Jr., 18, of Omak, pleaded innocent to first-degree murder in the death of Leonard J. Bauer. Ryan W. Adolph Louie, 20, of Omak, Reuben’s half brother, pleaded innocent Thursday and Devin D. Palmanteer, 18, also of the Omak area, pleaded innocent Nov. 24, both to charges of first-degree robbery, first-degree theft, first-degree rendering criminal assistance and unlawful concealment or removal of a body.

Sheriff Frank T. Rogers has said Reuben confessed to killing Bauer, 40, a longtime resident of the Aeneas Valley east of Tonasket, on Nov. 7 after the teenager rolled his girlfriend’s Isuzu Trooper and the older man stopped to help him and his two friends.
