This little tongue-wagger’s name is Sam.

He is 1½ years old and has been in the shelter for one year. His previous owners surrendered him when he was 4 months old, and he has been overlooked for far too long.

Sam is a terrier mix. At 35 pounds, he is just the right size for any home.

He is neutered, very affectionate, playful and smart. The shelter staff taught him “sit,” and he takes his treats with a very gentle mouth. His assessment card says he is OK with kids and very trainable but probably not good with cats.

Sam is easily entertained. If he were allowed to, he would still be tossing and shaking the glove I dropped in the snow.

Sam needs to be “home for the holidays.” He is at the Spokane Humane Society, N. 6607 Havana St. The phone number is 467-5235.

Sam is in the first kennel, cage No. 12. The adoption fee is $84 if you live in the city of Spokane and $80 if you live in the county. The fee includes vaccinations, neuter and licensing.
