Judge’s name wrong

Due to a reporter’s error, Spokane County District Court Judge Sara Derr’s name was misspelled in a story Tuesday about an animal cruelty case.

Recount process clarified

Due to a reporting error, a story published Wednesday about the governor’s race recount was unclear about how additional ballots may be counted. The state Supreme Court has declined to force local election officials to reconsider thousands of invalidated ballots. But those local officials – at their discretion – are allowed to reconsider such ballots if they were wrongly left out of earlier counts. Although hundreds of ballots may be added to the recount this way, election officials have declined to reconsider most of the thousands of ballots that were the subject of the Supreme Court case, saying those were properly rejected.
