Wrong city named in column

The syndicated L.M. Boyd column in Thursday’s IN Life section asked the name of a state capital that had a month’s name within it. One answer given was Augusta, Ga., but should have been Augusta, Maine, as Georgia’s capital is Atlanta.

Errors in weed abatement story

Due to a reporter’s error in communicating with a photographer, the caption in a Thursday story about weed control was incorrect. Spokane Valley didn’t cut back on weed abatement this year. Also, the phone number for Spokane’s Adopt-a-Boulevard program is (509) 625-6064. The wrong city number was listed.

Corrected obituary in IN Life

Due to a clerical error, Thursday’s obituary for Anita Calzaretta, 57, listed the wrong service date. A full obituary can be found in today’s IN Life section.

Car was pushed into restaurant

Due to an editor’s mistake, an item in the Handle on Business column on page B2 Thursday mischaracterized the accident that closed Franklin’s Hoagies for more than two weeks. The restaurant was damaged by a car that was propelled through the wall after being hit by another car in the nearby intersection.

Wrong drivers credited for finishes

Due to a reporter’s error in the Motorsports Notebook in Thursday’s sports section, the wrong drivers were credited with second- and third-place finishes in last week’s Late Model Challenge at Stateline Speedway. Jeff Ford of Graham, Wash., finished second. John Gamble of Otis Orchards, finished third.

Aurora developed Web sites

Aurora Development Group developed Web sites for Ticketmaster and Gonzaga University. A column in Thursday’s newspaper attributed the work to another company.

Leniency sought for ‘aberrant’ behavior

A defense attorney for Bernadette Olson, accused of lying to a federal agent, sought a lighter sentence on Wednesday for “aberrant” behavior. A story in Thursday’s newspaper used the wrong word.
