Cubs 6, White Sox 2: At Wrigley Field, Carlos Zambrano settled down after a shaky first and pitched the Cubs to a win over the White Sox. Zambrano (9-3) allowed two hits in 61/3 innings before leaving in the seventh with a cramp in his right forearm after throwing 123 pitches. The Cubs finished with 12 hits and ended the White Sox’s five-game winning streak.

Expos 2, Blue Jays 0: At San Juan, Puerto Rico, Livan Hernandez pitched a four-hitter for his fourth complete game of the season, leading Montreal over Toronto in the start of what could be the Expos’ final homestand in Puerto Rico.

Devil Rays 4, Marlins 2: At Miami, Aubrey Huff homered and drove in three runs to help Tampa Bay beat Carl Pavano and struggling Florida. Huff hit his 11th homer of the season in the seventh inning.

Orioles 7, Phillies 6 (16): At Philadelphia, Miguel Tejada’s RBI single in the 16th inning lifted Baltimore over the Phillies. The Orioles have won three straight to move out of last place in the A.L. East.

Mets 11, Yankees 2: At Shea Stadium, Kaz Matsui homered twice and drove in five runs as the Mets stopped Mike Mussina’s eight-game winning streak, roughing up the Yankees.

Indians 15, Reds 2: At Cincinnati, Ronnie Belliard hit the first of Cleveland’s four homers, clearing the way for Japanese college star Kazuhito Tadano to win his first start for the Indians, over the Reds.

Braves 6, Red Sox 3 (12): At Atlanta, Nick Green hit a tying sacrifice fly off Keith Foulke in the 10th inning, then hit a three-run homer off Anastacio Martinez in the 12th to give the Braves a win over reeling Boston.

Astros 7, Rangers 5: At Houston, Morgan Ensberg hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning, his first of the season, to lead the Astros over Texas.

Rockies 9, Tigers 8 (10): At Denver, Charles Johnson’s three-run homer with two outs in the ninth inning tied the game, and Colorado scored twice in the 10th on bunt singles, ending a five-game losing streak with a victory over Detroit.

Padres 7, Royals 5: At San Diego, Phil Nevin homered in consecutive at-bats and Humberto Quintero, Brian Buchanan and Brian Giles also connected to lead the Padres past Kansas City.

Twins 6, Diamondbacks 5: At Phoenix, Danny Bautista’s error allowed Luis Rivas to score in the ninth inning and give Minnesota a victory over Arizona in Al Pedrique’s debut as the Diamondbacks’ manager.

Angels 7, Dodgers 3: At Anaheim, Calif., Tim Salmon and Robb Quinlan each drove in two runs and the Angels used a five-run first inning to beat Los Angeles, ending a four-game losing streak.

Giants 7, Athletics 3: At San Francisco, Barry Bonds hit his third homer in three days and Ray Durham hit two homers and drove in a career-high five runs in the Giants’ victory over Oakland.

Friday’s National League games

Pirates 8-13, Brewers 1-2: At Pittsburgh, former Gonzaga University outfielder Jason Bay had an eight-RBI game for the second time in less than a year and the Pirates ran their winning streak to seven by beating Milwaukee for a doubleheader sweep. Tony Alvarez’s grand slam supported another strong start by Oliver Perez in the opener, a Pirates victory that ended Milwaukee’s five-game winning streak. The Pirates are on their best spurt since winning eight in a row from Sept. 1-8, 2000.
