Couple arrested after incident with police

From staff reports

A man was Tasered and his girlfriend arrested early Sunday after fighting with Spokane Police officers, police spokesman Dick Cottam said in a news release.

Police first encountered Traivon Asterino, 26, while responding to a loud-party call at 2114 East Marshall about 10:15 p.m. Saturday. Asterino was uncooperative and challenging, police said. Officers issued a warning and left.

At 1:20 a.m., several officers, including the two who had been summoned to the party, were called to The Pub Club, 415 W. Sprague, for a fight, where they again found Asterino.

Police said Asterino was belligerent and refused officers’ directions. When they started to take him into custody, he fought them, and one officer used his Taser on Asterino. At one point, Asterino bit one officer’s arm and repeatedly kicked the officers, police said.

Asterino’s girlfriend, 27-year-old Mysti Rae Snyder, also of 2114 East Marshall, jumped on the back of one officer and repeatedly refused to stay out of the dispute, police said. Three others outside the Pub Club refused orders to disperse and were arrested on that misdemeanor count.

Asterino was booked on two counts of assault on a law enforcement officer, a felony, and Snyder was booked into jail on charges of misdemeanor city assault and obstructing. Asterino has 11 convictions, including robbery and theft.
