Football
July 30: Free Vandals football clinic for ages 6 to 13, 5 p.m.-7 p.m., with University of Idaho head coach Nick Holt and his staff. Free hot dogs and sodas after clinic.
Golf
Sign up: SPRC junior golf tournaments. July 19, Downriver, 7:30 a.m.; July 26, Esmeralda, 1:30 p.m.; Aug. 10, Qualchan, 7:30 a.m.; Aug. 30, Indian Canyon, 1:30 p.m. Cost of $20 includes green fees, balls, tees, lunch and prizes. Indian Canyon costs $45. Info or registration: 625-6200.
Hiking
Aug. 5: “Hike the Canyons in Southern Utah,” slide program by James Kimball, 7 p.m., at REI, 1125 N. Monroe. Kimball, REI’s manager, will focus on canyon hikes featuring Indian ruins, petroglyphs, and pictographs in areas such as Cedar Mesa, with hikes in Owl canyon, Fish Canyon, and Grand Gulch in Moab region.
Lawn bowling
Sign up: Lawn bowling six days a week through October just south of Witter Pool on Mission. Monday, Wednesday and Friday bowling is at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday play begins at 10:30 a.m.
Nature
July 20: Join wildlife biologist and bat expert Sandy Rancourt for an illustrated presentation on the Bats of Turnbull at 8 p.m. in the Environmental Education Center at Refuge headquarters.
Softball
July 24-25: Colville Challenge Men’s figure-8 modified fast-pitch tournament. Three games guaranteed. Cost is $185 for teams registered by July 20. Info: 869-0252.
