A 19-year-old man allegedly tried to stab another man with a scissors in a parking lot Wednesday.

Brandon M. Messenger, 13224 E. Eleventh Ave. was arrested by Spokane Valley Police Department officers for alleged felony assault.

The fight happened in the parking lot of Taco Bell at Sprague Avenue and Sullivan Road around midnight.

Messenger allegedly confronted the boyfriend of his ex-girlfriend. The couple, along with another friend, were in a car in the parking lot of Taco Bell. When the boyfriend exited the car, Messenger pulled out a pair of scissors and lunged at the other man.

The boyfriend was cut on his left forearm and his shirt was torn where Messenger tried to stab him, according to a police department press release. His injury did not require medical treatment, police said.

Messenger was booked into the Spokane County Jail.
