Jill Clayburgh appears on ‘Nip/Tuck’

Joel Brown New York Times Syndicate

The Big Three networks are skipping tonight’s installment of the Democratic National Convention in Boston, featuring a speech from Massachusetts Sen. Edward Kennedy. The networks’ lack of interest this year suggests things may be different four years from now.

But PBS and all the cable news channels will still be on the case tonight, beginning at 5 p.m., and C-SPAN will offer gavel-to-gavel coverage beginning at 3. Of course you’ll want to hear what “The Daily Show” has to say about it too, on Comedy Central at 11.

The nonconvention show of the night is “Nip/Tuck,” on FX at 10.

Tonight’s celebrity guest patient for our plastic surgeon protagonists is Jill Clayburgh, a dissatisfied liposuction customer.

But the big dramatic story appears to be teenage Matt’s dalliance with his mom’s “life coach,” played by Famke Janssen.

And their tryst could pose a whole new problem for Christian (Julian McMahon), as there’s a secret he’d rather keep from his partner, Sean (Dylan Walsh).
