Driver arrested after trying to elude deputy
A 19-year-old was arrested after he allegedly refused to pull over when an officer tried to stop him.
Deputy Jason Petrini noticed a black Pontiac Fiero with no front license plate stopped at a red light near Trent Avenue and Vista Road Sunday night, according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office. Petrini had checked on a similar-looking car earlier when it had been parked at a nearby hotel and noticed its vehicle identification number had been removed, said Sheriff’s spokesman Cpl. Dave Reagan.
Petrini tried to stop the driver, who allegedly drove away at a high rate of speed through a nearby residential neighborhood, Reagan said.
The driver hit a concrete curb divider at Trent and Fancher, disabling the car.
The driver was identified as Aaron D. Hall, 2411 E. Hartson.
Hall had an outstanding warrant for first-degree possession of stolen property, Reagan said. He was arrested on that warrant.
During a search of the car, Petrini found a glass pipe that allegedly contained a small amount of methamphetamine.
Hall was booked into the Spokane County Jail on suspicion of trying to elude police, possession of meth, and for the warrant, Reagan said.
Man arrested on burglary charge after asking for money door-to-door
Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 25-year-old Liberty Lake man Sunday who was allegedly soliciting cash door-to-door.
The man had gone to homes in Liberty Lake for the past month, asking for money to travel back to the West Side for a family emergency, according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.
The man was identified as Timothy J. Moore, 805 S. Liberty Lake Road.
A videotape shows a man matching Moore’s description walking onto another man’s deck without permission, the Sheriff’s Office said. The man called the Sheriff’s Office, which opened an investigation into the incident.
The Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the Liberty Lake Police Department. Moore was identified as a possible suspect.
Liberty Lake police located Moore and detained him Sunday.
Sheriff’s Deputy Terry Liljenberg confirmed that Moore was the man whose image was captured on the videotape.
Moore was arrested on suspicion of attempted residential burglary and was booked into the Spokane County Jail. Six additional misdemeanor counts of trespass are pending, police said.
