Student Advisory Council members appointed

The Spokane Valley City Council appointed nine individuals to the city’s first Student Advisory Council during its study session Tuesday.

The students will meet monthly to discuss city issues that affect young people, and offer advice to the City Council.

“They really were the cream of the crop,” Mayor Mike DeVleming said. “I think we’ll see some really good things come out of this group.”

The Student Advisory Council members are Randee Berg Tanner Daly and Michael Green from Central Valley High School; Kellie Brennan from East Valley High School; Victoria Benson, Paul Heim and Katie Osterback from University High School; Steven Leeberg from Valley Christian School; and Joseph Neaves from West Valley High School.

The Student Advisory Council still has two empty seats, one from East Valley and one from West Valley. The mayor expects to fill those positions this summer, his administrative assistant Sue Golman said.
