Two arrested in pot smuggling case

Two British Columbia men suspected of smuggling more than 300 pounds of marijuana into the United States were arrested Friday, officials said.

A 43-year-old man from Qualicum Beach and a 39-year old man from Nanaimo were booked into jail for investigation of possessing marijuana with intent to deliver.

The Coast Guard reportedly spotted a suspicious vehicle early Friday near a beach area west of Port Angeles.

Clallam County sheriff’s officers stopped the vehicle on State Highway 112 as Coast Guard and Immigration officers searched the beach and discovered several hockey bags filled with marijuana.
