Car horn leads police to drug suspect
A blaring car horn led police to a drug suspect on Saturday evening.
The horn on a Chevrolet Camaro got stuck as the car was passing a Spokane Valley police officer near Sprague Avenue and Carnahan Road.
Spokane Valley Police Officer Jeff Welton stopped the driver, who initially gave a false name, police said. He was eventually identified as Terry A. Peterson, 1414 N. Lincoln Road.
Peterson admitted his driver’s license was suspended, police said. Welton arrested Peterson , 41, and discovered a drug pipe and a small amount of methamphetamine in the man’s clothes, police said.
The vehicle had its ignition punched out, and Welton could not determine whether the car had been stolen, police said. The car was impounded, police said.
Peterson was booked into the Spokane County Jail on suspicion of possessing meth and two felony warrants alleging possession of a controlled substance and failure to register as a sex offender. self end
