Users should stay on trail
An article that appeared in the June 6 edition of The Spokesman-Review, about the opening of the Trail of the Coeur d’Alenes, may have overstated the extent of clean-up along the rail bed before the former Union Pacific line was capped and paved for a bike trail. Because of the continued risk of lead and other heavy metal contamination along the former railroad right-of-way, visitors to the trail are encouraged to stay on the trail except at designated picnic and rest areas.
Property purchase opportunity misstated
Due to a reporting error, a June 4 story misstated when Coeur d’Alene had the opportunity to buy 12 acres next to Ramsey Park. The city could have bought the property about four years ago for $370,000.
