Disaster volunteers to take part in emergency shelter exercise

The Northwest Spokane Disaster Volunteers, a group co-sponsored by COPS Northwest and the Northwest Neighborhood Association, is working with the Inland Northwest Chapter of the Red Cross to develop a local group of volunteers that can respond to major disasters and set up emergency shelters.

An emergency shelter exercise will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Shadle Public Library, 2111 W. Wellesley Ave.

Greater Morgan Acres meeting

The Greater Morgan Acres Sub-Area Planning meeting will be held from 7 to 9 tonight at Fire Station 98, 6606 N. Regal St.

The meeting agenda includes transportation goals and recommendations, a report from Quality of Life subcommittee, and land-use design.
