Security cameras will be installed at Pavillion Park
Liberty Lake is installing a video surveillance system in Pavillion Park to help prevent vandalism.
The City Council approved the purchase of a $5,000 system from Strain Security after examining several competing bids.
Three cameras will monitor activity in the parking lot, pavilion and near the entrance of the restrooms.
Arlene Fisher, finance director for the city, said the system is worth the price because Liberty Lake has already paid more than $6,000 to repair park vandalism over the past two years.
The police and parks department will split the cost of the system, which is expected to be installed by mid-July.
