Man exposes himself to woman walking dog on Centennial Trail

A 62-year-old man was ticketed Sunday after a woman told the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office that a man exposed himself.

The 30-year-old woman told Deputy Fred Morford she was was walking her dog on the Centennial Trail near the Idaho state line Sunday. The woman told Morford a man approached her from his parked car and exposed himself.

The suspect made no attempt to touch the woman and after she scolded him, went to his car and drove away, said Spokane County Sheriff’s spokesman Cpl. Dave Reagan.

The woman went to the Port of Entry to report the incident. She provided a description of the suspect and his license plate, Reagan said.

A state wildlife agent spotted the suspect and held him for deputies, Reagan said.

The man was identified as Donald H. Hodge, 19219 E. Montgomery Drive. Hodge was issued a criminal citation charging him with indecent exposure and was released, Reagan said.

Man arrested on river bank after fleeing deputies

A man tried to escape Spokane County Sheriff’s deputies by jumping into the Spokane River Tuesday.

Dustin A. Christensen, 28, was arrested when he got out of the water and tried to hide in bushes near Kaiser Aluminum Corp., deputies said

The incident began about 5:50 p.m. Tuesday when two deputies patrolling the Centennial Trail on bicycles encountered Christensen, who allegedly ran from them and jumped into the river, according to the Spokane Valley Police Department.

Christensen left his backpack on the trail, and the deputies determined he was a felon wanted on a Department of Corrections warrant for escaping from community custody.

Deputies watched Christensen as he was washed downstream. The sheriff’s Marine Unit was called to help rescue Christensen.

Christensen eventually made it to the north shore of the river where he was arrested on the Department of Corrections warrant, officers said.

Tires slashed at Fireside Apartments

Vandals slashed tires on several vehicles parked near the Fireside Apartments.

The vandalism occurred overnight Sunday at 12816 E. Main Ave., according to the Spokane Valley Police Department.

Two victims reported the incidents to Crime Check and said other vehicles had also been vandalized. Valley Police had not received any additional reports of vandalism, said Spokane Valley Police Department spokesman Cpl. Dave Reagan.

The malicious mischief reportedly occurred between 6 p.m. Sunday and 6 a.m. Monday.

Man arrested outside Costco on theft charge

Deputies arrested a 40-year-old Spokane Valley man who allegedly tried to steal a computer monitor from Costco.

The man was arrested on June 11 as he was leaving the North Division Costco.

Security officers allegedly found a flat screen monitor, worth $499, beneath the man’s shirt, according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.

Koby K. Kimbrough Sr., 6019 E. Sixth Ave., was arrested and booked into the Spokane County Jail on a felony count of second-degree theft.
