Valley Fire receives award for employee support
The Spokane Valley Fire Department has been given an award for its support of employees who serve in the military.
Eleven Spokane Valley firefighters serve in the National Guard and Reserve. Four are currently deployed, according to a press release from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reservewhich gave the award.
Valley Fire was recently named one of Washington state’s top 10 employers by the ESGR.
Valley Fire — formally known as Spokane County Fire District 1 — provides full compensation and benefits to deployed reservists. The department also ensures the reservists’ families are cared for, said Paul McNabb, chairman of the ESGR for the east area of Washington in a press release.
