Coming Sunday
Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, in Richland, has 3,600 employees and performs about $600 million worth of research each year. Yet, so far, none of that federally funded research has resulted in the creation of spinoff companies in the Spokane or Coeur d’Alene areas. Still, economic-development officials here see PNNL as a key element in the Inland Northwest’s future and want to make the region a stronger contender for the lab’s spinoffs.
