Angels 8, Devil Rays 4: At Anaheim, Calif., Jeff DaVanon homered and drove in four runs, Jarrod Washburn won his fifth straight start, and injury-plagued Anaheim won its ninth straight game with a victory over Tampa Bay.
Athletics 8, Twins 4: At Oakland, Calif., Mark Mulder earned the first victory by a member of Oakland’s “Big Three” starters in 16 days and the Athletics defeated Minnesota. Mulder, Tim Hudson and Barry Zito hadn’t won in the A’s last 14 games – the longest winless stretch since Zito joined the rotation in 2000.
Royals 8, Red Sox 4: At Boston, Darrell May earned his first victory of the season with help from Jaime Cerda, Carlos Beltran had three hits with four RBIs and Kansas City snapped a four-game losing streak.
Orioles 12, Indians 11: At Baltimore, Miguel Tejada’s second homer of the game highlighted a four-run sixth inning, and Baltimore held on and defeated Cleveland to complete a three-game sweep.
Tigers 5, Rangers 3: At Arlington, Texas, Alex Sanchez hit a tiebreaking homer in the eighth inning and Nate Robertson allowed three hits in seven-plus innings, leading Detroit past Texas.
Blue Jays 5, White Sox 2: At Toronto, Justin Miller tied a career high by pitching seven strong innings and Toronto won its season-high fifth straight.
