5A/4A Region I
When: Today and Friday
Where: Volmer Bowl, Lewiston
Schedule: Today – 3 p.m., all field events except the boys pole vault. 4:30 – 3,200 meters for boys and girls. 6 – Medley relay for boys and girls. Friday – 11 a.m., boys pole vault. Noon – The balance of the running finals.
What’s at stake: The top two in each individual event and winning relays earn state berths in 5A and 4A. Athletes also may qualify for state through at-large berths. In 5A, there’s one at-large berth per individual event and two at-large relay berths per event. In 4A, there are two at-large berths per individual event and three at-large relay berths per event.
At a glance: The two regional meets will run simultaneously. In 5A, Lake City’s girls and Lewiston’s boys are the defending champs. LC’s girls, also defending state champs, could lap the field while Coeur d’Alene and LC should wage a tug of war in the boys. In 4A, Sandpoint’s boys and Moscow’s girls are the defending champ. Both titles appear wide open between the region’s three teams. State will be held May 20-21 in Boise.
3A District I
When: Friday and Saturday
Where: Van Tuinstra Memorial Field, Timberlake High School
Schedule: Friday – 4 p.m., field events (discus, triple jump and pole vault for girls; shot put, long jump and high jump for boys). 4:30 – 3,200 meters for girls and boys. 5:15 – Running preliminaries in the hurdles and sprints for boys and girls followed by medley relay for boys and girls. Saturday – 10 a.m., field events (shot put, long jump and high jump for girls; discus, triple jump and pole vault for boys). 11 – Running finals.
What’s at stake: The top three in each individual event and winning relays earn state berths. Athletes also may qualify through at-large berths. Two at-large individual berths per event and three at-large relay berths per event are available.
At a glance: Lakeland’s girls and Timberlake’s boys are the defending champs. Timberlake’s boys should repeat and Bonners Ferry’s girls are favored. State will be held May 20-22 in Boise.
2A/1A Region I
When: Friday and Saturday
Where: Kamiah High School
Schedule: A handful of field events and running finals will be held Friday with the balance of finals Saturday.
What’s at stake: In 2A, the top four in each individual event and winning relays earn state berths. In 1A, the top four in each individual event and top two relays earn state berths. Athletes also may qualify for state through at-large berths.
At a glance: Kootenai’s girls and Nezperce’s boys are the defending champs in 1A. Kootenai’s girls are favored to repeat and Kootenai’s boys could challenge. State will be held May 20-22 in Boise.

What’s at stake: The top two placers in boys and girls singles, doubles and mixed doubles advance to state, which will be held May 21-22 at Vallivue and Caldwell high schools in Caldwell.
3A District I-II
When: Friday and Saturday
Where: Moscow
What’s at stake: The top five placers in boys and girls singles, doubles and mixed doubles advance to state, which will be held May 21-22 at Timberline High School in Boise.

Schedule: Friday – Game 1: No. 3 seed Timberlake (15-9) vs. No. 6 Bonners Ferry (0-18), loser out, 10 a.m.; G2: No. 4 St. Maries (12-12) vs. No. 5 Kellogg (6-13), loser out, noon; G3: G1 winner vs. No. 2 seed Priest River (13-7), 2 p.m; G4: G2 winner vs. No. 1 seed Lakeland (20-3), 4. Saturday – Game 5: Championship, G3 winner vs. G4 winner (winner to state), 9 a.m.; G6: G3 loser vs. G4 loser (loser out), 11; G7: G6 winner vs. G5 loser (winner to state, loser out), 1 p.m.
What’s at stake: The district champ and runner-up advance to state, which will be held May 20-22 at Ramsey Park in Coeur d’Alene. Intermountain League champion Lakeland is favored. Timberlake is the defending district champ.
