Former Playfair announcer Henson dies
INGLEWOOD, Calif. — Gary Henson, who called horse races at Spokane’s Playfair Race Course and several West Coast tracks, has died after a long illness. He was 60.
He died Saturday at his home in Renton.
Henson was the announcer at Longacres from 1973 until its closing in 1992. He also called races at Playfair, Yakima Meadows, Portland Meadows and Hollywood Park.
