From staff reports

A limited supply of flu vaccine will be distributed to high-risk individuals in Coeur d’Alene on Nov. 19 and in other North Idaho communities in coming days.

The Panhandle Health District will give out 300 doses at the clinic, beginning at 9 a.m. at the Silver Lake Mall. The vaccine will be available only to adults 65 or older or to people between 19 and 64 with chronic medical conditions, such as diabetes or heart or lung disease. To schedule an appointment for children, contact the local Panhandle Health District office at the numbers listed below.

The Panhandle Health District received 2,300 extra doses of the vaccine, which was divided among the five northern counties. Much of the vaccine in Kootenai County was given to doctors to inoculate their highest-risk patients. The remainder will be made available Nov. 19.

Limited flu shot clinics will also be held in coming days in Bonners Ferry, St. Maries, Sandpoint and possibly Kellogg, according to a statement from the Panhandle Health District.

About 150 doses will be given out in Bonners Ferry starting at 9 a.m. on Friday. The clinic will be at Bonners Ferry High School. For more information, call 267-5558.
