SpokAnimal seeks cat litter, dog food
SpokAnimal C.A.R.E. is asking for the public to help overcome a current cat litter and dog food shortage.
The shelter has been forced to use shredded paper as a substitute after using donated stockpiles of kitty litter.
With an unusually high cat intake this fall, in combination with the trend for retailers to sell pet food seconds instead of donating them, SpokAnimal is low on dog food and completely out of litter.
The shelter is looking for donations of food and litter. The cat room uses 10 pounds of kitty litter every day, and it’s vital for the health of the cats to use litter, as opposed to shredded paper, which harbors disease and bacteria.
People can drop off any size bags of kitty litter at SpokAnimal, 710 N. Napa St., from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
