Tired of negative implications about council members
I am a proud citizen of the city of Spokane Valley and of the council that is serving this community.
I have listened and read various implications about the poor job the City Council members are doing in their decisions concerning the issues that confront them on a daily basis in setting up the rules and regulations for new city and, frankly, I am tired of it.
Each of the seven council memberswere elected in the democratic tradition of our country — by a majority vote of the citizens who decided to exercise their voting privilege and voted their choices from the list of candidates that were running. They selected those that they felt would do the best job for the citizens of Spokane Valley by working together to make it a great place to live.
The decisions they make concern a variety of issues that are needed to set up a working government in the establishment of a city. They make these decisions based on the requirements of the law and state government mandates. They attend informational meetings, read the information provided and take comments from the citizens of the city. Then they make the decisions based on what is felt to be the best for the majority of the citizens of the city.
