A new commission
Voters in Spokane County will be seating a new majority on the County Commission when they go to the polls Nov. 2.
Two veteran commissioners – Kate McCaslin and John Roskelley – are stepping down, which means two newcomers will join Phil Harris on the three-member panel. The commission will guide the county on a series of critical issues, from law enforcement funding to handling the need for additional sewer capacity.
Four candidates are vying for two spots. Republican Todd Mielke is facing Democrat Linda Wolverton, and Democrat Bill Burke opposes Republican Mark Richard.
The candidates agreed to respond to a series of questions on the issues, and their answers are printed below.
