Whitworth seeks 3-0 record in California

The Spokesman-Review

Whitworth College will step away from Northwest Conference play and back into California for the third time this season when it faces Menlo College in a non-conference football clash that kicks off at noon today at Connor Field in Atherton, Calif.

The Pirates (4-1) are coming off a 38-21 NWC win over Puget Sound last week. Having beaten Redlands and La Verne on the road earlier this fall, the Pirates will be going after a sweep of the California schools on their 2004 schedule.

In Menlo (1-3), Whitworth faces a talented team that is banged up despite coming off a bye week. Because of an injury to starting quarterback Adam Hazel, the Oaks have been forced to go with freshman Dustin Guglielmelli.
