Woman arrested after two-state chase
A 19-year-old woman was arrested Sunday after a high speed chase that started in Spokane Valley and crossed the Idaho border into Rathdrum.
Samantha L. Reeves, of Harvard, Idaho, was arrested by the Idaho State Police and charged with felony eluding and reckless driving in the incident. Reeves also did not have a driver’s license, police said.
The chase began about 1:30 p.m., after a Spokane County Sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop Reeves, who was driving recklessly on Interstate 90, police said.
Reeves sped away from the deputy, exiting the interstate at Sullivan Road and heading toward Idaho on Trent Avenue, which turns into Idaho State Highway 53.
According to police radio traffic, speeds reached 90 mph at one point.
The pursuit continued through the Rathdrum area, and Reeves eventually stopped on Ramsey Road at Boekel Road, the ISP said.
Reeves’ passenger, Vincent Salazar of Spokane, was also arrested. He was charged with a felony count for his role in the pursuit, and possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia, the ISP said.
Man stabbed near Coeur d’Alene bar
A 23-year-old Coeur d’Alene man was in intensive care at Kootenai Medical Center after being stabbed near a downtown bar Sunday morning.
Travis Dale Hogan was stabbed four times during an altercation with another man in the 400 block of Indiana, just north of Mik-N-Mac’s bar about 2:20 a.m., said Sgt. Christie Wood of the Coeur d’Alene Police Department.
Arrested for the stabbing was Jonathan Ryan Palmer, 21, also of Coeur d’Alene. Palmer and Hogan apparently did not know each other. Wood said. The incident is still under investigation.
