Betty (Dolman) Whiteman

Cataldo, Idaho

Visitation for Betty A. Whiteman, 59, will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene. Service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with burial to follow at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Whiteman, who was born in Madison, Minn., died Saturday.

She graduated from Madison High School in 1963 and married Merlin Wendland. This marriage later ended.

She moved to North Idaho with her two children in 1968 and received a licensed practical nursing degree from North Idaho College in 1972.

Mrs. Whiteman worked in nursing until 1976, and married David Whiteman in 1979.

She was employed by the Forest Service for several seasons and had done bookkeeping for Columbia Satellite since 1982.

She enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, roses, splitting firewood and mowing the lawn in her special hat.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Kim Wendland of Post Falls; two stepdaughters, Marlana St. Pierre of Post Falls and Kim Hammeran of Cataldo; two brothers, Rey Dolman of Las Vegas and Steve Dolman of Santa Rosa, Calif.; two sisters, Marilyn Kurtz of Deer Park and Denise Simons of Coeur d’Alene; and five grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, or the Shriners Hospital for Children.

Dorcas (Butler) Revelli

Hayden Lake, Idaho

Memorial service for Dorcas Louise Revelli, 83, will be Saturday > at 1 p.m. at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene.

Mrs. Revelli, who was born in Williamsburg, Pa., died Thursday.

She grew up in Williamsburg and graduated from high school there. She attended Westminster College, where she was a member of the Sigma Kappa sorority.

Mrs. Revelli received a bachelor of science degree as a nurse anesthetist from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia.

She married Dr. Robert J. Revelli in 1944 and they moved to Wallace after his military discharge from the Army.

He operated a medical practice in the Silver Valley until retiring in 1983 and moving to Hayden Lake.

She also spent time at her home in Palm Desert, Calif.

Her husband died in 2002.

Mrs. Revelli was active in various community affairs and was a member of the Bridge Club, Eastern Star and the Hayden Lake Country Club.

She was past president of the Wallace P.E.O., and the Chaparral Women’s Golf Club in Palm Desert.

Survivors include a daughter, Ruth Fullwiler of Coeur d’Alene; and three grandsons.

Anna ‘Chris’ Colyar

Spokane

Funeral Mass for Anna Christine “Chris” (Eberl) Colyar, 75, will be today at 1 p.m. at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church. Neptune Society is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Colyar, who was born in Bad Tolz, Bavaria, was a resident of the Spokane area for 60 years. She died Wednesday.

She attended high school in Bad Tolz, and in 1946 moved to Munich, Germany, where she lived until moving to Spokane in 1951.

She married Arthur Colyar in 1952, and moved to Cheney that year. She lived in Cheney until 1978, when she returned to Spokane.

She attended Spokane Falls Community College.

Mrs. Colyar owned the Beehive Restaurant in Cheney and retired in 1992 from See’s Candy, which she managed for 20 years.

She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cheney and St. Aloysius Church in Spokane. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Michelle Colyar-Cooper of Seattle; two sisters, Johanna Stuhlmiller of Quincy, Wash., and Maria Eberl of Wackersberg, Bavaria; two brothers, Michael and George Eberl, both of Bad Tolz; and one grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Aloysius Church.

Rachel Mullenix

Deer Park

Funeral for Rachel Cora Mullenix, 92, will be today at 1 p.m. at the Deer Park United Methodist Church. Lauer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Mullenix, a longtime resident of Deer Park, died Wednesday.

Born in Coeur d’Alene, she attended schools in Colville and Orin, Wash., and graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 1930. She later attended Cheney Normal School, where she studied bookkeeping.

She assisted her husband in their family business.

After moving to Deer Park, Mrs. Mullenix was clerk of the Deer Park School District Board, a former president of the PTA and was involved in establishing the school’s hot lunch program.

She was a member of the Deer Park United Methodist Church, PEO, Order of the Eastern Star, the Model T Club and established Rainbow Girls in Deer Park.

Her husband died in 1999.

Survivors include four children, Celia Garrison of Spokane, Rosalie Compton of Clayton, Wash., and Melvin Mullenix and Kathy Morris, both of Deer Park; two brothers, Art and Allen Avey, both of Kettle Falls, Wash.; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

George Becker

Ritzville, Wash.

Funeral for George Becker Jr., 90, will be today at 11 a.m. at Zion Philadelphia Congregational Church, Ritzville, with vault interment to follow at Ritzville Memorial Cemetery. Danekas Funeral Home in Ritzville is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Becker who died Thursday, was born on the family farm near Ruff, Wash. He attended country schools before completing the 10th grade at Ritzville High School. He quit school during the Depression and began farming with his father.

In 1936 he married Leah Sauer in Walla Walla.

Mr. Becker continued to farm with his father until his father retired in 1939. In 1960 Mr. Becker built a new home in Ritzville. He continued to farm until he retired in 1977.

He was a member of Zion Philadelphia Congregational Church, a charter member and past president the Eagles Lodge in Ritzville, the Adams County Historical Society and the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia.

Survivors include a sister, Lavina Brown of Monroe, Wash.; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

George Valentine Sr.

Post Falls

Visitation for George B. Valentine Sr., 91, will be Wednesday from noon to 5 p.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls followed by rosary at 6 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Post Falls. Requiem Mass will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the church.

Mr. Valentine, who was born in Duluth, Minn., died Sunday.

He grew up in Minnesota, and joined the Merchant Marines.

In 1939 he married Germaine Hoeschen and they lived in Seattle for several years.

Mr. Valentine attended Seattle University and the University of Washington and earned a bachelor’s degree in business.

He had served as a sea captain in the offshore shipping business.

He and his wife settled in Post Falls in 1992.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.

Survivors include his wife; five sons, Stephen Valentine of Gig Harbor, Wash., Mark Valentine of Cottonwood, Idaho, Frank Valentine of Los Angeles, and James and George Valentine Jr., both of Post Falls; and a sister, Mary Jane Hanson of Jackson, Wyo.

Melanie (Johnson) Caputo

Post Falls

Requiem Mass for Melanie Sue (Johnson) Caputo, 43, will be today at 9:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church in Post Falls. Burial will take place on the Pala Indian Reservation in California on Saturday. English Funeral Chapel is in charge of local arrangements.

Mrs. Caputo, who was born in San Jose, Calif., died Thursday after a long bout with diabetes.

She attended St. Christopher School in San Jose and Archbishop Mitty and Willow Glen high schools.

She worked as an executive secretary for various electronic manufacturing companies in the San Jose area, including Thorne EMI and Tandem Computers.

She moved to North Idaho in 1998 and worked in the Coeur d’Alene area until illness forced her retirement.

She was a homemaker and a member of Immaculate Conception Church.

Survivors include her son, Casey Flint; her parents, Harmon and Barbara Johnson; five brothers, Gordon, Paul, Kenneth, Geoffrey and Ben Johnson; and two sisters, Debra Wirth and Bonnie King.

Kay ‘Meino’ Brockley

Coeur d’Alene

Memorial service for Kay J. “Meino” (Posey) Hedge Brockley, 68, will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene.

Mrs. Brockley, who was born in Wallace, died Friday.

She grew up in Coeur d’Alene and graduated from high school there in 1954.

She married Ed Hedge and the couple had three children before the marriage ended.

She later married John Brockley. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Brockley had worked as a legal secretary for area law firms, including Whitla and Knudson, E.L. Miller, and Sam Eismann, retiring in 2000.

Survivors include three children, Todd Hedge and Dawn Collins, both of Coeur d’Alene, and Tracy Hedge of Spokane; four stepchildren, Bill Brockley, Ellen Brockley, Mary Brockley Harris and Carol (Brockley) England, all of California; two sisters, Pat Knudson of Boise and Billie Lowry of Post Falls; and eight grandchildren.

Ruby Carmichael

Spokane

Memorial service for Ruby C. Carmichael, 101, was Monday at Riverview Retirement Community.

Mrs. Carmichael, who was born in Modale, Iowa, died Thursday.

She graduated from high school in Nebraska, and attended Whitworth College, receiving a master’s degree in education. She had also attended Eastern Washington University and Wayne State College in Nebraska.

She married Donald Carmichael in 1936 in Wyoming, and the couple moved to Spokane in 1941.

Mrs. Carmichael was an elementary school teacher , and was a member of Fourth Memorial Church.

Her husband died in 1998.

Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy Hannan of Phoenix.; a son, Donald Carmichael of Rathdrum, Idaho; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Lucille (Hudson) Greenwaldt

Moscow, Idaho

Visitation for Lucille (Hudson) Swartz Greenwaldt, 88, will be today from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, with funeral to follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Mrs. Greenwaldt, who died Wednesday, was born in Ludington, Wis. She lived in Spokane from 1937 to 1979.

She was a homemaker.

She married Lester Greenwaldt in 1964, and they moved to Moscow in 1979.

Mrs. Greenwaldt was a member of the Moose and Eagles lodges and Pacific Avenue Christian Church.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Jim Swartz of Las Vegas, Gary Swartz of Battleground, Va., and Raymond Swartz of Rogers, Ark.; two daughters, Virginia Morrow of Seattle and Carole Johnson of Chattaroy; two sisters, Betty Lofstrom and Doris Noland, both of Everett; 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Ruth Schindler

Spokane

Funeral Mass for Ruth J. Schindler, 80, will be today at 8 a.m. at St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church in Spokane Valley. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Schindler, who was born in Casper, Wyo., died Oct. 18. She was a resident of Spokane for nearly 50 years.

She was a member of the Altar Society at St. John Vianney Church for many years, as well as a housekeeper and cook for the priests.

She enjoyed picking huckleberries and fishing.

Her husband, Joseph, died in 1983.

Survivors include five children, Ralph Schindler of Kenner, La., Mary Dixon, and John and Mike Schindler, all of Spokane and Teresa Rickert of Cheney; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Loranne Hildebrand

Medical Lake

Memorial service for Loranne M. Hildebrand, 51, will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the First Assembly of God Church in Medical Lake.

Mrs. Hildebrand, who was born in Butte, died Thursday.

She worked as a nurse’s aid for 20 years.

She married Werner Hildebrand in Spokane in 1984 and they settled in Medical Lake in 1995.

Mrs. Hildebrand was a member of the Medical Lake First Assembly of God Church.

She enjoyed knitting and ministering to people on Internet chat rooms.

Survivors include her husband; her father, Fred Webster; and a brother, Bruce Webster, both of Spokane; and two sisters, Lisa Young of Arizona and Carol Smith of Spokane.
