Fund-raising for Shiri Howell continues

The Spokesman-Review

The motocross community raised more than $40,000 last weekend to help Shiri Howell, a 17-year-old professional motocross racer who was injured a month ago.

Howell, an East Valley High School honor student, collided with another rider during a practice session at the Extreme Motorsports racetrack, in the West Plains.

She suffered brain injuries and remains in a coma.

Friends and fellow racers held the auction during weekend races at Extreme Motorsports. The auction is part of an ongoing effort to raise money to help the family pay bills not covered by insurance, and make up for any wages the family loses during Shiri’s recovery.

The track is also selling T-shirts that have a picture of Howell riding her motorcycle that read “Shiri Howell, In our thoughts and prayers.” The shirts sell for $10.
