Now is not the time to conserve
In regard to the 21 cents per $1,000 assessed property valuation bond issue (vote is Thursday) common sense says to pay it for many reasons.
First, not to provide curb-to-curb or road-to-road edge surfacing after sewering is wrong. Look at 16th Avenue, Evergreen to Sullivan. It’s a complete job, not half finished.
Those who walk or ride bicycles should not have to use cow trails on the side of the road. Traffic will move more freely for both driver and pedestrian — and be safer.
We paid the additional 21 cents until incorporation without complaint and no one could predict the slowing of the economy.
Our City Council is looking at the situation the city of Spokane has in having to float a bond issue to repair its streets. Do we have to be hit with a ball bat to see what can happen?
There is a time to spend and a time to conserve.
