Before- and After-school Programs – Educational and fun programs are available at the Northeast Youth Center, 4001 N. Cook. Read for Trees – Forester Jim Flott will discuss the importance of trees in our lives, and children can plant their own seedlings. This program for school-aged children will start at 4 p.m. Monday at the East Side Library, 524 S. Stone; at 4 p.m. on Tuesday at the Indian Trail Library, 4909 W. Tomie’s Birthday Party – All ages are welcome to celebrate the 70th birthday of Tomie dePaola, author and illustrator of more than 200 children’s books. The event includes readings, crafts and popcorn. 7 p.m. Monday at the Indian Trail Library, 4909 W. Barnes. For information, call 444-5395.
Paws for Reading – Kaile the reading dog will be at the East Side Library, 524 S. Stone, at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday for children who need help reading out loud or are reluctant to read. For information, call 444-5377.

Creativity Clubhouse – This summer outreach program is presented by the Children’s Museum and KSPS Public Television. Children between the ages of eight and 10 can participate in gardening projects, international crafts, ZOOM science projects and make Lego skyscrapers. Jump Rope Academy – Instruction includes single rope and double Dutch; ages 2-adult. Monday-Saturday. Free introduction class. Birthday and group workshops; $8 per person. Young Mom’s Life Skills/Support Group – Teen Parent Network provides a weekly young mom’s group for moms between the ages of 13-24 for encouragement, understanding, and acceptance.
