Northeast B-11: Reardan football begins its state title defense at home against Wilbur-Creston (0-1). All NEB-11 teams begin league play Friday. Other league openers include Almira/Coulee-Hartline at Republic, Odessa at Liberty, Selkirk at Springdale and Davenport at Lind-Ritzville. Southeast B-11: Non-league play begins this week for Asotin and Tekoa-Oakesdale/Rosalia. The Nighthawks play Saturday at Liberty Bell and Asotin will host Orofino Friday night. Northeast B-8: Columbia (1-0), a B-8 quarterfinalist last year, is at home Friday against Clallam Bay, which was knocked out in the B-8 semifinals last year. Sprague-Harrington (1-0), coming off a 44-0 mauling of Touchet, gets a visit Saturday from Dufur (Ore.), an Oregon 1A quarterfinalist in 2003. Southeast B-8: LaCrosse-Washtucna travels to Liberty Christian on Friday, opening league play. … Colton/Pullman Christian (1-0) hosts 2003 state-qualifier Touchet on Friday while Garfield-Palouse opens its season with a non-league game at Kendrick of Idaho. St. John-Endicott also travels Friday for a non-league opener as it faces Prescott. Bi-County/Whitman County: Tekoa-Oakesdale, fourth in the 2003 B volleyball state tournament, knocked off defending 1A state champion Lind-Ritzville in three games Tuesday while Liberty defeated Rosalia in four. St. John-Endicott hosts Sprague-Harrington in a non-league match tonight and Garfield-Palouse, sixth at state, crosses the border to Genesee, Idaho. Northeast 1A/B soccer: Northport was forced to drop its soccer team last week, causing the remaining four teams to scramble to rewrite the league schedule.
